A Turkish community in Wedding, Berlin: A group of girls students that helps part-time with organizing religious celebrations and other community activities. At first blush, nothing special. But all those girls were born and have been raised in Germany, went to school and found friends here. Still, the religion and culture of their parents’ home country loom large in their minds–some even think of emigrating to Turkey. But can you still call it emigration, if the country you are leaving is your home merely on paper? Home is something more than just a geographic location.
